Lancashire-born Rosie Wilby (or just 'Wilby') has resided in London since the early 90s.

Stirred by life in the big city and the sounds of the era (Britpop, trip hop) plus old favourites (Bowie, Prefab Sprout, Tom Waits, Al Green), she sang with a series of bands before getting her own group and songs together. It was an unruly and ever-evolving troupe, including cellists, sax players and a trio of backing vocalists.

In July 2000, when many of the band had gone their own way, she released debut album 'Precious Hours' in the UK and Australia. The launch show at London's Ronnie Scott's club prompted The Guardian to praise her 'glorious voice'. Meanwhile lead track, 'This Time', was selected for a Red magazine covermount CD featuring exciting new female artists.

In 2002, she co-founded Arts Council funded project Girls Cross Country (a touring initiative for female artists) with fellow singer songwriter Virginia MacNaughton. Since then she's toured the UK and supported a long list of impressive artists including Roddy Frame, Bob Geldof, Jamie Cullum, Midge Ure, The Czars, Joseph Arthur, Glenn Tilbrook, Eileen Rose, Jess Klein, Cosmic Rough Riders, Martin Stephenson, Tom Pacheco, Steve Wynn, Hazel O'Connor and The Waifs.

'Be There' was released as a single in 2002 and topped many online charts. More recently, 'Saved' has been included on a Spydaradio compilation alongside tracks by such luminaries as Chuck Prophet, Robyn Hitchcock, Tom Ovans and Redlands Palomino Company and 'Reward' features on a CD released by bohemian London performance collective The Creative Swing.

In 2005, Rosie made many fans and friends on the festival circuit, not least at Glastonbury where she performed a solo acoustic set on the Left Field stage to an enraptured crowd. www.rosiewilby.com for more…
